THROW BACK THURSDAY

image

OMG I remember when I wore this dress to a wedding in Uyo(Awka Ibom state). I felt pretty in pink but apart from that what I love most about this RiverIsland dress is the simplicity and the little sexiness you can see from the double slit and the Chris-cross at the back that i failed to capture. Oops sorry didn’t feel the need since I didn’t put my hair up.  Continue reading “THROW BACK THURSDAY”

FOUR UNIQUE WAYS TO WEAR PASTEL

         FOUR WAYS TO WEAR PASTEL

When I think of pastel I used to think it involved bright colours. I mean it does but like it’s confusing maybe because of how fashionistas wear it. So I’d think pastel colours were a yellow or a bright blue. Lol oops!  I’ve never bothered to look at the dictionary meaning of pastel. This is because descriptively it’s pretty obvious. However for the sake of wide research I decided to look up the meaning of pastel and realized my description was not so correct. Pastel in the colour sense refers to a soft and delicate shade of color. Synonyms such as pale, soft delicate, light colored, light toned would definitely work. This season being spring in the west and Raining season in the western part of Africa( Nigeria to be specific) the use of pastel is the trend for this season. It is fun, flirty, and fresh! Further on in my discovery, I realized that there are four basic ways you can wear pastel. This theory is my personal one, so hear it goes. You can

1) monochrome it ; mixing black and white hues with a touch of pastel is not so tricky and very doable, adds a bit of colour to the monochromatic piece. Another way to monochrome is to make the shade of pastel the only recurrent colour or rather the only colour from head to toe. Sounds a bit matchy matchy- old school, but very easy to pull off without looking dated. Here are a few photos showing both ways.

2). Colour blocking pastel; It’s easy to colour block with pastel because of how soft the shades are. The colours transition seamlessly from one piece to the other. However when your colour blocking pastel try to add neutral colours to create a balance or else you may wind up looking like an Easter egg and it defeats the purpose of that fresh pastel look you want to create.

3) Keep it fresh; Styling the right outfit with pastel colours would leave you looking classy and fresh. Nothing says fresh than a play with soft colours. Pastel has a way of making you look expensive. Designers like Christian Louboutin are known for their creativity with use of pastel in the famous nude pointees.

4) Let it pop; If you’re wearing pastel,it’s best to always add a pop of colour somewhere in between, it could be your lipstick, your hand bag, or any item your wearing. Just so you’re not completely washed out in pastel and you look a bit more interesting. Here are some visual effects.

Believe it or not Rihanna’s hair does add a pop of colour to this outfit. Very edgy but yet also subtle.

Patrotism

Happy Free and fair elections to my fellow Nigerians as the gubernatorial and National Assembly elections are underway, stay safe and vote in peace not in pieces. In all of this I still feel you should be fashionable. So if you’re going to vote be your fashionable self and go and cast your vote in peace. If you’re not voting stay home quietly and cook yourself a nice healthy breakfast. In uttermost Patrotism I decided to uphold my national flag… Green white green which inspired my outfit.

I decided to also try something new with my hair and play with a different colour other than black. This a weave BTW it is a premium yaki original sold for 5000 naira a piece  its bouncy and light and really soft and manageable as well as affordable. If you live in my area you can buy at Hair Republic Portharcourt Nigeria, or you can buy from ali express online.  I used pure heroine Mac lipstick. Which I’m totally feeling right now don’t know why it’s been out there for so long lool.

Thanks for reading xoxo…

STREET STYLE WEDNESDAY

So for the past week or so. I’ve been surfing the net as usual and there’s been lots of events and lots of stylish people attending those events. I’ve been inspired by their stylishness(if there is a word like that lol) and decided to share a compilation of  my fave looks from the many events. From movie premieres to tea parties and launch parties you can tell that some cities just don’t sleep(eg Lagos).

I don’t know what the trend is at the moment but from the pictures, I see people in  floral prints, bright colors, pastel and lovely jumpsuits.
